"A good course that highlights the important differences between front-country EMS and best wilderness practice."
"A WEMT is essential for being in a wilderness situation where conventional EMS needs to be rethought."
"Regardless of your actual time in the wilderness, the information can be applied at almost any point. There are concepts and ideas that once explained are “simple”. A new way of looking at potential situations with a well structured plan will help at a time when without the training you could be very confused and unable to help."
"While urban and wilderness medicine share basic principles and concepts, their practical approaches differ significantly. Actions that benefit patients in urban settings can sometimes cause harm and lead to poor decisions in wilderness environments — a crucial distinction for EMS providers to understand. Context matters tremendously; without comprehending the specific wilderness context, managing various aspects beyond just medical care becomes much more challenging."
"This course should be taken because it prepares people for accidents that could happen in a wide range of situations and gives you the skills to handle these emergency situations with limited to no resources. Even if you are already a health care provider, this course helps you get creative with your medicine and treatment, offering a new perspective to emergency situations out in the wild. Very practical and insightful approach to wilderness medicine."
"I highly recommend WMTC; their standards and especially their instructors are top-tier. Great materials and delivery with up-to-date, insightful, and compassionate instruction."
"It's a different style of learning and thinking than what I was taught as an urban EMT. It's eminently practical and useful."
"We took this course to be better prepared for our own safety since we travel alone most of the time. We also volunteer for a local Search & Rescue team and may be deployed at any time."
